Potato Chips
I know this site is all about candy but I thought I’d post a quick pic of the last 100 potato chip bags I ate. I’m not a big potato chip eater and with that said, this group of bags took me about two years to save up. I love prepackaged food because when you’re on the “go” it makes it very convenient and I’m always on the “go”!
For those bean counters out there I arranged the bags in ten rows of ten, so it would be easy to make out that there are 100 total.

Smack It Crack It! Turkish Taffy
This was (is again) a pretty popular, mass-marketed, standard size candy taffy bar. Turkish Taffy was re-released in 2010 but I didn’t get the pleasure of getting and eating any until early this year (2011). Taffy type bars are not the norm for candy shelves so with few taffy products on your local candy shelves it’s nice to have one of the great ones back on hand. They make Turkish taffy in 4 flavors (Vanilla, Chocolate, Banana and Strawberry) and each one is just as good as the others. I haven’t seen these around too much yet so I was really happy to pick up all four flavors at the 2011 NCA Sweets and Snack show.
1912 – Turkish Taffy was invented by Herman Herer in New York.
1915ish – Once it was purchased by M. Schwarz & Sons it was renamed “Turkish Chewing Taffy”.
1936 – The Bonomo family, of Coney Island, New York purchased M. Schwarz & Sons’ Turkish Chewing Taffy and dropped the word “chewing”.
1944 – (Sometime during WWII) Bonomo & Sons was renamed to Gold Medal Candy Corporation, but they kept the name “Bonomo’s Turkish Taffy”.
1972 – Tootsie Roll Industries purchased the rights to Bonomo’s Turkish Taffy and produced the taffy until the mid 1980s.
1980s – (mid 1980s) Tootsie Roll Industries altered and used the original formula to make a softer version called “Soft and Chewy Tootsie Taffy”
2010 – Turkish Taffy was relaunched at the National Confectionery Association Sweets and Snack show in Chicago

Wonka Exceptionals – Triple Dazzle Caramel Bar
Just found this one today and it states it was made “1019…” thats Jan 19, 2011.
Its a milk chocolate bar with individual caramel pockets. Its not to bad but I have had similar candy bars like this before. I would hope that Nestle is just getting the basic types of bars out of the way and will eventually make wild and wacky one.

Wonka Exceptionals – Fantabulous Fudge Bar
I was at the store the other day and found this new bar. It’s been a while since Wonka released a candy bar under their Exceptionals line. This one is mark (if I read it right) “0346….” which translates to Made on Dec 12, 2010.
Its described as Fantabulous Fudge however I found that you can barely taste the fudge over the milk chocolate. The bar has pockets of gooey fudge incased in milk chocolate; which makes the bar about 70% milk chocolate and 30% fudge. Not what I was expecting. I would have used a darker less sweeter chocolate to accent the taste of the fudge, and/or added a fudge type taste to the chocolate as well. Overall it’s not a bad bar but nothing extraordinary for the price you have to pay.
